Our application can now be completed online.
In order for families to be accepted to Christian School of York, a top day school in Central PA, at least one parent must be a born-again Christian and have committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Parents must be in agreement with our Basis of Faith and our Parents’ Pledge statement (See “Parent Pledge and Basis of Faith”). The family must be active in a church and express an understanding that educating a child requires a strong foundation in the areas of church, home, and school.
Entrance testing is a required element of the admissions process at Christian School of York for students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade. Students entering Christian School of York Preschool do not require entrance testing.
Additionally, students who come to Christian School of York from educational settings where standardized testing is completed annually may not require entrance testing. Accepted forms of standardized testing include, but are not limited to, the PSSA, the Terra Nova, and the Stanford Achievement Test.
Entrance testing encompasses three main areas—reading, writing, and math.
An interview will be held with each family who has completed the application and submitted all of the required paperwork for admission. The interview should be attended by the parents, guardians, and students (6th – 12th only). This time together will provide the opportunity to confirm that the family shares the same vision and mission as Christian School of York. It also gives the parents the opportunity to ask final questions to confirm that the school is the right fit for their family.
Student Interview (6th – 12th grade only)
As part of the family interview, students entering 6th – 12th grade will also meet with the Upper School Principal. Through understanding of a student’s strengths and weaknesses, a smooth transition and successful educational experience is expected.
Christian School of York welcomes mid-year enrollment for students moving into the area; however, CSY does closely examines transfers from local schools during the school year. Mid-year application takes approximately two weeks to complete. If a student enters after the school year has begun, tuition is prorated according to the actual number of days enrolled.
Not All Students and Families are Accepted
Please do not withdraw your students from their current program until you have received an official acceptance letter from Christian School of York.
All new students are on a nine-week probationary period. During that probationary period their academic performance, behavior, attitude and influence on others are evaluated by the faculty and administrative staff. Parents will be notified of major problems or concerns. Non-evidence of parental support could also be a factor. A student may be dismissed, asked to withdraw, or expelled at any time if there are concerns that are not resolved.
