July 1, 2026,
CSY Family and Friends,
This is a big week in the life of our nation. America celebrates 250 years as a people united around the core ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and God given, inalienable rights. As we enjoy the upcoming holiday, I hope you will join me in thanking God that we live in a nation that still protects such great freedom to worship Christ and proclaim truth. We should never take that for granted. At the same time, there is another birthday being celebrated this summer. CSY is 70 years old! Wow, to think that for the past 70 years Christian School of York has been a staple of Christian education in York County is incredible. Highlighting that 70 year impact, we will be looking to connect with our community and our alumni over the next 12 months in unique ways. Please keep your ears tuned for those opportunities this year. Continuing to build on momentum, we are coming off an amazing year trusting that nothing is impossible for God. We continue to believe that God can, and this school year we will be looking to 2 Corinthians 3:17 which declares that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” Celebrating 70 years at CSY and commemorating the semi-quincentennial of the nation brings that idea of freedom to the forefront of our minds, but I want to make sure that we dive into what freedom in Christ truly means. We will be pointing our students to both what they are “free from” in Christ and what they are now “free to” in Christ. Many times, we miss that. I know that Jesus has set me free from sin, from guilt, and from eternal punishment, but do I remember that I am now free to do what is right, to exalt God in my life, and to accomplish the good works He prepared in advance for me to do? The world’s definition of freedom is often a selfish one, but we are called to be different. We will spend this next year emphasizing God’s purposes in setting us free; so, please pray that our students will come to a deeper understanding of freedom in Christ. There are lots of things happening this summer in our buildings. Summer camp is in full swing. We had a basketball camp a couple of weeks ago and have volleyball and drama camps upcoming. Curriculum and supplies have been ordered and are steadily arriving for the fall, and our building is in the midst of some great renovations to the kitchen, bathrooms, mezzanine, and classrooms. As these things happen, we are grateful for Independence Day and we are blessed by the school’s birthday; but most importantly, we are thankful for freedom in Christ Jesus our Lord. I hope and pray that your summer is going well and can’t wait to see everyone this fall! Blessings,
Dr. Jeremy Drake
